Jamil Ahmed obtained his Master’s degree in English Language and Linguistics following the completion of a BA in English Literature. He has completed MPhil in Local Governance & Public Administration and PhD. on ‘Role of Journalism and Media in Disseminating Local Governance Policy Reform Agenda in Bangladesh’. He had advanced training in ‘Civil Society Outreach’ from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), the UK in 2007 and had a diploma in Journalism from the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB). He received advanced training in Leadership & Advocacy from CARE International, Atlanta USA in 2008. He was awarded Eisenhower Fellowship (USA) in 2012 on Strategic Leadership Development by US State Department, US Government. Jamil Ahmed has over 25 years of professional experience in Program Development and Management, especially in the areas of program design, development and implementation, specialized in relationship building with civil society, Policy advocacy campaigns, BCC/IEC materials development and information dissemination, Efficient in teaching, training facilitation, moderating and anchoring. As Adjunct Professor, he worked at BRAC University, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB). Jamil Ahmed worked with renowned National and International agencies including BBC London, Action Aid - UK, Save the Children - USA, USAID-funded governance programs (ARD, RTI, DAI), TIB & CARE-USA. Jamil Ahmed was the Founder Executive Director of the Journalism Training and Research Institute of USAID-BRAC University, from 2009 - 2017. Most recently served as the Director at North South University (NSU) from 2018 – 2023.
