A vibrant and inspiring session on “What Makes an Entrepreneur?” was held at the Royal University of Dhaka, where students and faculty members gathered to explore the essence of entrepreneurship and innovation. The distinguished keynote speaker Takrar Ahmad Yattoo, Assistant Professor, School of Management and commerce,KR Mangalam University ,India delivered a powerful and thought-provoking address that captivated the audience and created an atmosphere of enthusiasm and learning.

On behalf of the University, Honourable Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin presented a Crest of Honour to the keynote speaker as a token of appreciation. In his address, Professor Dr. Meshquat Uddin congratulated the guest for his remarkable contribution and remarked that “Entrepreneurship is not only about creating business ventures — it’s about transforming ideas into meaningful action that benefits society. Our young generation must cultivate creativity, resilience, and ethical commitment to bring positive change to the world.”

He further expressed his delight at the success of the session, acknowledging the efforts of the organizing team, faculty members, and students for making the event impactful and engaging.

elaborated on the four pillars of entrepreneurship — Innovation, Value Creation, Risk-Taking, and Execution. He emphasized that innovation means doing something new or better, citing Elon Musk (Tesla, SpaceX) as an example of groundbreaking creativity in electric vehicles and reusable rockets.

Discussing Value Creation, he mentioned Ayman Sadiq, founder of 10 Minute School, who addressed real challenges in Bangladesh’s education sector through free online learning platforms.

Highlighting Risk-Taking, he referred to Fahim Saleh, founder of Pathao, who localized ride-sharing services in Bangladesh and demonstrated how calculated risk-taking can lead to remarkable success.

On Execution, the speaker stressed that ideas only become powerful when transformed into action — “Entrepreneurs succeed not because they dream differently, but because they act decisively,” he remarked.

He also discussed Imitative Entrepreneurs, who successfully adapt global business models to local contexts — such as Jack Ma’s Alibaba (inspired by eBay/Amazon), Flipkart (India’s Amazon-inspired logistics innovation), and OYO Rooms (modeled after Airbnb but focused on affordable hotels).

The question-and-answer session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who eagerly engaged with the speaker, sharing their innovative ideas and entrepreneurial aspirations.

The session was moderated by Professor Dr. Md. Abu Bakar Siddique, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, he ensured meaningful interaction throughout the event.
