The Royal University of Dhaka organized a discussion meeting to celebrate the 53rd Great Victory Day in 2023. The event took place on Sunday, December 17, in the auditorium of the university’s Tejgaon permanent campus. All teachers, students, officials, and employees actively participated in the program, which featured colorful banners and posters adorning the campus in honor of Victory Day. Dr. Jamil Ahmed, the Registrar, chaired the meeting, and the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr M. Abul Kashem Mazumder, served as the chief guest.

During his speech, Chief Guest Professor Dr. M. Abul Kashem Mozumder reminded attendees of the accomplishments of freedom fighters and the significant role played by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the liberation war of 1971. Emphasizing the importance of Great Victory Day in the national life of Bangladesh, he expressed the nation’s achievement after nine months of intense conflict in 1971.

Professor Majumder extended his wishes for the salvation of the souls of the martyrs, emphasizing the country’s independence to establish the people’s rights. Other speakers, including Salma Honey,Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Business Administration, Acting Dean Md. Shahidur Rahman Khan, Proctor Malay Sarker and others, highlighted the outstanding contributions of freedom fighters in the struggle for liberation.

The program, Moderated by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and Vice President of VC-DF Forum, Dr Md Abu Bakar Siddique widely known as Dr Dipu Siddiqui, featured poetry recitation by Tasnima Crorie, an officer of the Branding and Promotion Department.

Dr Jamil Ahmed underscored the significance of the Great Victory Day in the lives of Bengalis, expressing deep respect for the 3 million martyrs of the Liberation War.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mozumder stressed the importance of unity based on the spirit of the liberation war for continued progress in peace and development. A minute’s silence was observed in honor of all martyrs, and prayers were offered for their souls. The program concluded with wishes for a happy and prosperous Digital Bangladesh and the future growth of the Royal University of Dhaka.
