To protect the environment and promote a greener campus, Royal University of Dhaka, in collaboration with Inner Wheel Club Dhaka North, organized a tree plantation program at the university’s permanent campus in Tejgaon and its surrounding streets. The initiative was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. A. N. M. Meshquat Uddin.

Among the distinguished guests were Inner Wheel District 345 Vice Chairman Shirin Ranu Chowdhury, Club President Shaheen Islam Jharna, Immediate Past President Mahmuda Rahman, Meena Monowara, and poet-writer Nazrul Bangali.

The inaugural session began with Professor Dr. A. N. M. Meshkat Uddin planting a neem tree. He encouraged teachers, students, and staff to actively participate in tree planting in their own yards and nearby areas.

The program was coordinated by Professor Dr. Dipu Siddiqui, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and Acting Controller of Examinations, who expressed gratitude to the participants, noting, “Through voluntary effort, a green belt will soon flourish around the campus and its surroundings.”

Other attendees included Associate Professor Ara, Head of the Department of English; Deputy Registrar Md. Moshior Rahman; Sharmin Sultana, Chairperson of the CSE Department; Assistant Professors Obaidur Rahman, Malabika Majumder, and Amena Khatun; Lecturer Sakib; Lecturer Shamima Akter; Head of the Department of Education Solaiman Hussen; Lecturer Yuki Barua ; Assistant Controller of Examinations Md. Abdur Rahman; Abhishek Roy; IT Manager Shamsul Islam; Suhrid Zaman; and Mohaymenul Hoque Alif, among others.

It is worth mentioning that Inner Wheel Club Dhaka North has been regularly conducting such tree plantation programs, with participation from university teachers, students, and people from different walks of life—contributing to the vision of an eco-friendly campus and a greener city.
